Presentation Description:
Throughout these sessions you will explore the multi layered impacts of our work on the Nervous System in regards to touch, movement, posture, pain, and embodiment.
Concepts such as the science of touch, assessing/ correcting postural, movement and pain patterns, the importance of embodied awareness, and how to cultivate therapeutic presence and conscious communication skills will be covered.
This series of classes is designed to:
- Enhance your effectiveness in resolving stubborn postural fixations, movement imbalances, and pain patterns.
- Deepen your ability to engage even the most challenging clients.
- Clarify confusion around in-session decisions about what to do, where, when, and why.
- Inspire curiosity and stoke wonder about bodywork and movement therapy
- Broaden clinical potential and impacts of our work
Class 1: An Introduction to the ‘Beyond Anatomy’ Bodywork and Movement Series
In this initial session, we will answer the question of why it’s essential to include a focus on the nervous system in our work with clients. We will discuss the 4 major components of this series of classes at an introductory level and offer a view into the power of expanding our therapeutic vision to include the nervous system.
Class 2: Understanding the Convergence of Fascia and the Nervous System
This class will renew the wonder of what is happening under your hands during bodywork. We will look into how bodywork and movement therapy impacts tissues and systems beyond the fasciae, discussing various effects manual and movement interventions. You will gain insight into potential neural drivers of stubborn holding patterns and how to strategise sessions to optimise results.
Class 3: Advancing Our Understanding of Movement, Posture, and Pain
This class will explore how to effectively work with the neural components of movement, posture, and pain. We will discuss: how to make sense of what we see and feel in sessions, some common drivers of movement, posture, and pain patterns, why things hurt, concepts of movement norms, and the role of intensity in our sessions.
Please note that this is an online recording.
