Introduction to Core Integration Visceral Manipulation

We are delighted to be hosting Alyssa Dodson again for this introductory class. Alyssa sold out all classes during our recent Summer School.
Based on the work of Liz Gaggini
The visceral fascia has strong effects on the structure. Releasing strains in this fascia can help continue to enhance core transmission and deepen the goals of organizing the spine, pelvis, and shoulder girdles. This approach to visceral work utilizes both long and mid tides and the principles involved in an indirect (listening-following) approach. In this manner, the viscera is addressed holistically and supports the structure as a whole.
This three day introductory class will cover the following principles:

Culture of the Core:

How the visceral systems specifically respond and integrate, and how they adapt to new organization of the visceral connective tissues.

Long Tide:

How relating to long tide in visceral work helps to gently facilitate integration and sustain the new more supportive organization by relating individual organs to the visceral system as a whole.

Inductions:

How to first mobilize and then listen to the motility of each organ in order to find the less optimal patterns of the organ and then support a new more integrative motility pattern.
The class includes both lecture and hands-on participation and practice of these methods.
These classes are open to persons trained in Structural Integration to the standards established by the International Association of Structural Integrators and to other professional bodyworkers with consent of the instructor

About Alyssa:

Alyssa Dodson completed her initial training in 2002 at The Guild for Structural Integration with Emmett Hutchins and Peter Melchior. Since then she has been in private practice for 17 years in New York City. In 2005 she began studying with Liz Gaggini and became her teaching assistant from 2007-2016.
Alyssa offers classes in The Biomechanics of Natural Alignment as well as the Core Integration Visceral Manipulation. Both classes are based on the approach developed by Liz Gaggini. Alyssa also mentors practitioners and oversees specialized study groups in Biomechanics and Core Integration Visceral Manipulation.
Along with her Structural Integration practice and teaching, Alyssa brings 15 years of both performing and teaching Martha Graham Technique as well as movement alignment/education at elite schools and festivals. Among them are; NYU Dance Education Division, Tanglewood Music
Center, University of North Carolina in Greensboro, The MET Opera Lindemann Young Artists Program, La Guardia High School for the performing Arts, Manhattan School of Music, Mannes School of Music, Julliard Music Division, Cooper Union and Interlochen Arts Academy.
She was trained by Juliu Horvath in the Gyrotonic System and taught at his studio for three years. Alyssa has studied with Hubert Goddard, Monica Caspari, Emilie Conard, and Irene Dowd
